Support Engineer (L2)

Requirements

**This is a 95% remote position, but candidates MUST be within reasonable commuting distance to the GTA (including downtown) either via car or transit. This is due to occasional ad-hoc on-site support requirements for GTA clients**


As well as what is listed below, we are looking particularly for someone with strong networking skills (Sonicwall & security) and small office networking experience.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for a Support Engineer to join our quickly growing team.


To work with us as a Support Engineer we would expect you to have:


● 1-2 years in a sysadmin or site reliability engineering role OR 2-4 years in a helpdesk or related tech role.

● Understanding of ITIL standards.

● Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

● Practical experience working with Azure.

● Experience managing Office 365.

● Experience working with Intune, Defender, Exchange.

● Experience with Azure AD and/or Windows Active Directory.

● Understanding of email protocols (SMTP, POP, MAPI etc).

● Experience working with DLP.

● Understanding of requirements working with secure environments.

● In-depth knowledge of Windows, Linux, and Mac OS environments.

● Experience supporting small-to-medium sized environments (~20 VMs or services).

● 1-2 years scripting experience with PowerShell, Bash and/or Python.

● Basic knowledge of networking fundamentals (DNS, routing, firewalls, load balancing, vnets).

● Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot basic technical issues


The type of work you'll be doing as a Support Engineer will be:


● Providing customers with IT support via desktop solutions, chat functions, emails, and calls.

● Delivering applications to hundreds of users.

● Monitoring and ensuring communications are kept secure.

● Design and testing of custom Office 365 controls.

● Managing users in Azure AD.

● Troubleshooting workstation and OS issues as they arise.

● Iterating on established infrastructure and platforms with the guidance of a Senior Engineer.

● Miscellaneous support tasks for small-to-medium sized clients.

● Analyzing and reporting on the root causes of issues.

● Setup VMs, provide regular support on related ad hoc issues, and manage client-determined access to relevant applications.

● Support client employee onboarding and application provisioning through Azure.

● Assisting with creating and maintaining technical documentation for your client projects.

● Script writing in PowerShell, Bash or Python.

● Reading and reporting on logs, server monitoring, and metrics.

● Documenting error reports and monitoring performance metrics.

● Compiling IT instruction manuals and useful IT support resources.

● Shadowing Senior Engineers to grow your skills.

100% remote hiring and onboarding, usually 2-4 weeks between phone screen & offer:


● Phone screen (15-30 mins)

● Technical interview (1hr) (no whiteboard coding)

● Panel interview (1-2 rounds, 1-2hrs)
